OUR STORY
Shalom World began as a spark of inspiration in a small village in Kerala, India, where a group of young adults, deeply moved by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, gathered in prayer. In this atmosphere of faith, Benny Punnathara received a vision—to bring the message of Jesus to the world through television. Though he had no media experience or resources, Benny placed his trust in God’s plan. Alongside his companions, he prayed before a broken television and a world map, surrendering their mission to the Lord. What began as a humble prayer gathering soon ignited a powerful evangelization movement.
The journey started in 1991 with Shalom Times, a Malayalam-language Catholic magazine that quickly gained momentum. A small television segment followed, reaching a broader audience and paving the way for something greater. In the early 2000s, Shalom TV launched in Malayalam, marking the birth of Shalom’s media ministry. As the mission expanded, the Indian diaspora embraced and supported it, helping to spread Shalom’s publications and broadcasts worldwide. This growing international reach led to the establishment of Shalom Media USA in 2010, setting the stage for a global impact.
On Divine Mercy Sunday 2014, Shalom World—a 24/7 Catholic television channel—was launched, bringing the peace of Christ to millions. Today, Shalom World reaches 194 countries, offering faith-filled programming across multiple platforms: four television channels, digital and print magazines, retreats, and conferences—all dedicated to healing hearts and strengthening families.
More than just a media network, Shalom World is a global movement built on prayer, faith, and the unwavering support of its fellowship members. With the Holy Spirit as its guide, Shalom continues to bring Christ’s love to the world—one heart at a time.
